Perhaps the one overarching component is experience - the application of the right experience at the right time. COMMITMENT TO BEST PRACTICES
The application of the experience our industry has to offer is critical. While our industry is relatively young, there is a wealth of information available. Besides being active members of various organizations that develop and maintain information technology standards and best practices, we endorse their use whenever practical. The standards we currently apply include the IEEE Software Engineering standards, the PMI's Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), SEI's Capability Maturity Model (CMM), Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and the ISO standards.
