Capacity Planning

Organizations often have a requirement to baseline capacity utilization on an ad-hoc basis. This is often the case before a new application is deployed and it is not certain whether the current infrastructure can accommodate the new load. Using our services will help to identify existing and/or potential bottlenecks.

Eclipse utilizes a four-step process for assessing capacity:

  1. Gather Information (i.e., How many users are there? What is the number of locations? What are the types of primary transactions? What is the application architecture? What are the applicable assumptions for growth?)
  2. Assess Current State (i.e., Examine the end-to-end path; Bandwidth Utilization; Round Trip Latency)
  3. Study Impact of Changes By Validating Baseline Model (Use tools to analyze change; Analyze Statistics from Modeling; Model Alternative Scenarios).
  4. Develop Optimization Strategies (including upgrade strategies and triggers)
