What is Project Oversight?
Project Oversight is an independent review and analysis of a project, applying knowledge and expertise to gauge performance and assess risk. It is designed to provide project executives and stakeholders with an indication of the project's current status and outlook for success. Project Oversight should be performed by qualified and experienced project managers who are capable of being critical and objective and who possess the credibility to successfully recommend project improvements.

Project Oversight is important because it increases the opportunity for project
success. Since IT projects are inherently risky endeavors, the application of
Project Oversight is essential to provide an early indication and assessment of
issues and risks.

In the State of California, Eclipse's recent collaboration with the Department of Finance's Technology
Oversight and Security Unit resulted in the creation and adoption of the IT Project Oversight Framework,
a new set of guidelines for project management and project oversight applicable to all reportable
State of California IT projects. The Framework reflects the high level of project oversight experience
and expertise available at Eclipse to each of our customers.

The Eclipse Project Oversight assessment covers five (5) basic areas of IT project management:
Planning and Tracking, Procurement, Risk Management, Communications, and Systems Engineering.
Eclipse consultants utilize a unique, analytical process to assess, document, and report our findings,
conclusions and recommendations in a formal report.
